Project Description
Transnet Rail Services (TRS) operates a number of rolling stock refurbishment yards in South Africa, with one yard located in Bloemfontein. The yard consists of several large industrial buildings located within a concrete-paved site. Abnormally high water utility accounts caused TRS to launch a technical investigation into water losses on the site. The investigation indicated water losses in excess of 80%. TRS called for tenders to remedy the situation. Reonet submitted a tender proposal for a complete turnkey solution to eliminate the water losses.
Our project methodology involved:
- Engineering design of the reticulation network and refurbishment design of infrastructure
- Procurement of goods and services
- Project management and quality control
- Decommissioning of the existing redundant reticulation infrastructure
- Commissioning of the new system with no disruption to the ongoing use of the facility
- Installation of Reonet’s RealSens™ remote metering system for the ongoing metering, monitoring and management of the facility
- Training of Transnet Rail Services staff for the ongoing management of the system
